Hypertension and Kidneys
Diseases of the kidney can cause high blood pressure in individuals with the disease. Poly-cystic kidney disease or chronic glomerulonephritis always bring on hypertension. So does blockage of the renal arteries supplying the kidneys. This kind of high blood pressure is known as renovascular hypertension. it is caused by a decreased profusion of the renal tissue caused by blockage of the main renal artery. This can be a seriously debilitating disease because once you unblock the arteries with stints, you can have a hard time controlling the high blood pressure associated with it. Your blood pressure will have to be monitored and so will your kidney function.
